LLB, Dip Family Law, Law Society Certificate in Healthcare Law, Partner.
I am a Clonakilty native, but have been living in Clonmel since 2002.
I graduated from the University of Limerick with an LLB degree in 2001, which included German as a language, and I moved to Clonmel and commenced my apprenticeship with Lynch Solicitors in 2002, and then qualified as a solicitor in December 2005. I am now a Partner in the Firm, and I manage the firm's family law and a large portfolio of complex, high-value litigation cases and probate litigation business.
I advise clients in a broad spectrum of legal disciplines, including Civil Litigation, Complex Probate Litigation, Family Law, Personal Injuries, Medical Negligence and Product Liability.
I also lead the Women's Medical Negligence Department at Lynch Solicitors and have successfully concluded many complex Medical Negligence actions in all areas of Clinical and Medical Negligence litigation. I have particular experience in dealing with cancer misdiagnosis cases, cervical cancer cases, child birth injury cases and other gynaecological injuries which have occurred during procedures such as hysterectomies, oophorectomies and laparoscopic salpingectomies. As a mother of three young children, I am keenly aware of the sensitive nature of gynaecological and obstetric injury claims. I have a keen interest in seeking justice for these women, and as a mother, I am uniquely placed to understand and deal with such cases in a professional and sensitive manner.
I have also successfully represented a number of Clients who developed narcolepsy as a result of Pandemrix Swine Flu. Narcolepsy, often linked with Cataplexy, is a lifelong, debilitating, incurable disease. Symptoms of Narcolepsy include daytime sleepiness, hallucinations, sleep paralysis and other ancillary problems. The Pandemrix vaccine was purchased by the HSE from GlaxoSmithKline by contract in May 2009 and was largely untested. GlaxoSmithKline received a full and comprehensive indemnity by the HSE against all Narcolepsy claims. Many of these claims for compensation have now been successfully settled through mediation
I specialise in all areas of Family Law, including Co-habitation & Separation Agreements, Judicial Separation, Divorce, Pensions, Recognition of Foreign Divorces and applications for annulment. I have also trained as a Collaborative Family Law Lawyer and I completed both the Law Society Certificate in Advanced Advocacy for Solicitors and the Law Society Family Law Diploma. I have lectured in Family Law at Waterford Institute of Technology, and I am a regular participant on the legal show on Tipp FM.
