John M. Lynch
BIO
BCL, LLM (Hons), FCIArb, Dip European Law, Dip E-Comm, Dip Insolvency & Corporate Restructuring. Senior Partner at Lynch Solicitors. Personal Insolvency Practitioner (PIP). Accredited Mediator and Arbitrator.
I was born and have lived in Clonmel all my life, except for short trips to university in Dublin and work in Scotland and Sligo.
I qualified as a solicitor in 1981 and set up practice in Clonmel in 1983.
Over the years, I have developed a keen interest in law and keep myself engaged and enthusiastic by taking on new challenges.
I hold an Honours Master’s Degree in Litigation, diplomas in E-Commerce and EU law, a certificate in Advanced Advocacy, and am also a qualified trainer in Advocacy.
I qualified as an Arbitrator, holding a fellowship of the Royal Institute of Arbitrators, and frequently acted as both an advocate and an arbitrator.
Furthermore, I am keenly interested in Succession and Estate Planning and Tax planning, having developed a special interest in this area over the years. This involves Wills, Enduring Powers of Attorney, and various succession agreements, such as co-ownership, cohabitation, and shareholder agreements.
I am an accredited mediator. Mediation is an increasingly popular and dynamic approach to dispute resolution. It helps settle disputes fairly and equitably, based on the reasonable judgment and realistic aspirations of both parties.
One of my pet hobbies is computers, and I share King Arthur’s lifelong ambition of finding the Holy Grail. In my case, however, it is slightly more attainable – the paperless office!! In 2010, we, at Lynch Solicitors, went as PaperLess as you can go. Our next target was to go DictationLess, which involves using Voice Recognition throughout the office. We are now actively investigating how to integrate the AI revolution into our practice of law.
In my spare time, aside from being Chairman of the Clonmel Voluntary Housing Association, I like nothing better than playing golf and riding my bike – a BMW or a road bike! And if you want to tune into Lynch Solicitors’ legal slot, I can often be heard waxing legally on Tipp FM 107 every second Tuesday morning.
